No if you have the brghtness high it only makes the screen brighter and it will take 1 percent of your battery when you turn it down it does not affect it in anyway

It depends on what model you have, and how much strength you have to snap it. If you have an iPad 2 or an iPad 3 then possibly yes, but the first iPad, not quite sure, you'll probably just dent the back of it and break your leg!
