Highlight the cell range you want to sort and click on the sort button. For Excel 2007, it is on the Home menu ribbon in the Editing section (on the right side of the ribbon).
Select the data you want to sort. On the Sort option, which is on the Home ribbon, click on the A-Z button and choose the order to sort as A to Z.

You can sort your data by clicking on "sort and filter" you will see this option at the top bar. This will give you option to sort your selected data acceding or descending order, or you can temporarily filter out your values.
There are many benefits of using the sort option in Excel. Some benefits are allowing you to sort by number, date, color, letter, columns, or text. This benefits the user because it allows the user to bring data up more easily.
Select the boxes, Columns or rows you wish to sort. On the "home" tab look on the right side of the menu bar and select "Sort and Filter". Select your preferred method of sorting from the choices that pop up.

The first step would be to select all the data. After that you can go into the Sort option and specify the sequence of criteria to sort by, such as surname and then firstname.
Select the columns as normal and use the sort icon, or command on the Data menu to sort them. If you have more than one column selected, the column in which the active cell is will be used to sort. If you want to sort on a number of combinations, like surname and then firstname, that can be done through the data menu. Blank cells will be sorted to the end and the rest of the data will be sorted as usual.
