up to 8 feet
Trench rats grew so big that they could eat an entire corpse, because there were many men shot in wars there was lots of food allowing their populations to grow very big and their average size to increase
trench warfare was a big one
A sickness called trench fever was caused by lice during World War 1. Trench fever started with severe pain all over the body and was followed by a high fever, headaches and giddiness. Trench fever took around 12 weeks to recover and that was AWAY from the trenches. Also Rats carried horrible diseases throughout the trench's and regularly ate what little supplies of food the soldiers had to eat.

Imagine this: You are a solder fighting for the life of you and your fellow country. You fight all day, with little time to sleep. The food is gross and so are the conditions of the trenches. They are filled with water, often giving millions of solders Trench Foot. If you do not find this bad enough, remember that there are no proper disposals for garbage in the trenches, so empty cans and wrappers are flung out into No Man's Land every day. Eventually, rat's came and started to eat the remainders of food. A pair of rats were capable of producing some 800 offspring within a single year. Let's do the Math: 2 rats= 800 rats per year. x5 (the war lasted from 1914-1918) = 4000 rats. This means that a SINGLE pair of rats could lead to 4000 rats in 5 or so years. Now don't forget, these rats gorged themselves on the remainders of food and the dead solders, so they grew about the size of a average house cat. Yes, a CAT! These rats also spread diseases and would cause a stench. Often, the solders would hear the rattling of cans in the distance in No Man's Land throughout the whole night.
the mariana trench is a big hole in the ocean that is very deep, dark and scary.
