How can one recover deleted files?

Double click on your trash folder and look through all the items in your trash folder. If you find your item, right click on it and say restore. That will put it back whereever it was before you deleted it. If you don´t find it there, it means your trash folder has already been emptied and there is no way to get it back.

Well, that's a broad question.

The short answer: Use a photo recovery software program.

The long answer: Right away, stop using the memory card. Any data that is written to the card after your pictures were accidentally deleted (or your card was accidentally formatted or corrupted) could possibly write over the photos you are trying to get back! So stop taking picture.
