Any editing (backgrounds, etc.) for clips used in Windows Movie Maker have to be done prior to importing the media into the program.
The integrated 'back-grounding' feature in the program can only be accessed through the Titles and Credits option. But, it can't be used to place a background color on imported pictures/clips.
