After opening the image you want to check the resolution of by going to "File", then "Open", click "Image", and then from the dropdown box, select "Image Size". In the new box that opens up, the width, and height boxes will tell you what resolution the image is.

If the picture has lower resolution than the screen, it stretches the picture to fit the screen. The screen resolution is 320x240, to check a picture resolution go options > view details.
This is probably because you are shooting at a resolution that is higher than the resolution your monitor supports. You could either:1. Shoot at a lower resolution.2. In Photoshop click Ctrl+Alt+I then enter the desired resolution.
