The ".exe" file extension is exclusive to Microsoft products, including MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows. While Solaris does have "executable" files, there is no requirement for those files to have an ".exe" extension. Technically speaking, ".exe" programs run only on Microsoft-based operating systems. Therefore, Solaris does not run ".exe" files.
An exe is a file which is run by the computer. It is not a data file. You can not take it apart. It does not contain separate files per se although it may liink to several separate files within the computer such as dll files.

Most games require a lot of other auxiliary files to run, for example graphics, levels, audio, ai scripts etc. As such, you wouldn't be able to run the game only having the exe. If you have all files but are only looking for cracked exe, to disable the requirement of a CD in your drive to play for example, then you can download those exe files individually from sites as http://www.gamecopyworld.com
The exe extension primarily tells the computer it is trying to run an executable file. This means is telling the computer to install or run something. All software like games have exe files that prompt the computer to install the program and to open it each time one clicks on the shortcut.

In Apple OSX, Applications are called 'Apps." In the Windows world, they are Executable files, called "EXE.' The MacBook can run Apps, that are modern enough to run on an Intel CPU. Older Apps that were written for the Power PC CPU will not run on the Intel CPU. When obtaining apps be sure to check for the 'INTEL' and 'APP' words. There options in OSX that allow the Mac to run EXE files. 1. Boot Camp is from Apple. It will allow a Mac to run Windows. In that mode, it will run exe files that will run in the Windows OS that you install into Boot Camp. At startup you choose either OSX or Windows operating systems. 2. Crossfire is an application that runs in OSX. It will run many exe programs. 3. Parallels is an application that runs in OSX. It will run most exe files. 4. VMware Fusion is an application that runs in OSX. It will run most exe files. Applications that run Windows within OSX will always run more slowly than Windows itself. The only way to run Windows at full speed on a Mac is by using Boot Camp.
