The Pied Piper took revenge on Hamelin by using his magical pipe to lure the town's children away after the townsfolk refused to pay him 1,000 guilders for ridding the town of rats. He played a captivating tune that enchanted the children, leading them into a cave, effectively disappearing them from the town. This act served as a poignant reminder of the consequences of breaking promises and failing to honor agreements.
In order to fully demonstrate the evils of capitalism within the confines of the story- if he were to allow the town to go unpunished, no moral would be found, removing the point of the story.
The Pied Piper is the character who played his pipe and led the rats out of Hamelin in the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
Originally he came to Hamelin to rid the town of all the rats that were infesting the town. He asked them if they would pay him 1,000 guilders for his work. The townspeople said they would pay him 50,000 guilders if he would just get rid of all the rats. The Piper did so, but the townspeople refused to pay him 1,000 guilders. Instead, they offered him 50 guilders and a drink so The Piper used his music to enchant all the children of Hamelin to leave with him, except one boy with a limp who wasn't able to keep up.
The town of Hamilton had too many rats and they needed help in order to get rid of them.
