The quick and easy way to add an Airport Express to an Airport Extreme network is to use the AirPort Express Assistant which is on the disc that came with the Express. This will talk you through the options. Just tell it to connect to your existing network and it will figure it all out for you. It will ask for your Extreme's password and then automatically configure the Extreme to use the Express. Restart the Express and you are done.

If you prefer to get your hands dirty use the Airport utility which is in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder. Allowing for different versions of Mac OS X/Airport utility you generally select your Extreme base station and then WDS (Wireless Distribution System) options. Click the + button to add to the network. Enter the MAC address for your Express. Turn off Distribute IP addresses on the Network. You want to allow the Extreme base station to be a Remote base station.

Can you Extend an apple Airport Extreme wireless on to a Airport express then run a Ethernet cord from the Airport express to a X-box 360?

A wireless network can be extended with a Airport express unit. Apple has a support page explaining the set up (See links below). An Xbox 360 can simply connect to this wireless network or you can probably arrange the set up to use an Ethernet connection.

What's the difference between a airport extreme and airport express?

Electronically there is not much difference. in use and power there is a difference. The Express will play music wireless via airplay, and it will connect to a printer. The Extreme will not play music. It will connect to a printer and hard drive. The Express has 10/100 Ethernet so is best for a small system. The Extreme has gigabit Ethernet so is best for a larger network. The Express is palm sized. The Extreme is almost as large as a Time Capsule. The Express is about $80 and the Extreme is about $180

I don't quite understand how wireless internet works If you buy say the Airport Extreme from Apple do you also have to pay a monthly fee or can you take it with you Please Help?

The airport extreme simply makes a relatively small wireless network. The best example of what an Airport Extreme base station is is to compare it to your home phone line and phone. Most people have wireless home phones now. They have a phone line coming into the house and a base station that sends the data received through the phone line to phone handsets somewhere in the house. This is like an Airport Extreme. Your internet provider runs internet to your home (this is the monthly payment). Your Airport Extreme makes a small network which broadcasts the internet in your home. Inside your computer is a wireless card that receives the signal just like your handset on your phone receives the signal from the phone base station. So you don't pay a monthly fee for the Airport Extreme, you pay for the internet that the AE broadcasts. The airport simply makes the internet wireless and your Airport card in your Macbook receives the signal. So you can take the Airport Extreme with you, but you would have to plug it into someone's existing internet that they pay monthly for to get any internet data. The Airport by itself does not have any internet.

Can you connect the Ethernet cable directly from your airport express to your MacBook Pro and access internet?

If you already have an Airport Extreme Base Station and your Express is used simply to either extend your network range or to use the AirTunes function, then yes you may plug directly to the Express to connect to the internet although the purpose of the Express is to be able to access the internet wirelessly. However, if you do not have an Airport Extreme Base Station and are using only the Express to connect to the internet, then you may not connect to the internet by using an Ethernet cable and plugging into the Express. This is because if you are using the Express to connect the internet, the ethernet plug will need to be plugged into your modem.
