Thanks guys, but the answer's actually on page E-97. I broke the habits of a lifetime and actually read the instructions.
Press & holdown "A" until the City Code flashes.
Keep pressing "D" until the displays moves progressively to 12/24 hour.
Press "E" to change from 12 to 24, or vice versa.
Press "A" again to revert to new time display.
It's all there in the booklet - one simply has to (yeuk) read it.
