You can change your MAC address through the Command Prompt. Check out the steps provided below:
Step 1: Open Command Prompt with Admin privileges. For this, press Windows key + S at a time. The start search panel will open up. Here, type cmd. In the search result, select the Run as administrator option. Alternatively, you can also use PowerShell for the same. To launch Powershell, type Powershell in the search bar. From the search result, select the run as administrator option.
Step 2: In the CMD / PowerShell window, type the following command:
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}_0002 /v NetworkAddress /d 012df566e30a /f
In the above command, make sure to replace the 0002 with the wireless directory according to your Registry Editor and 012df566e30a with the new MAC address you want to set.
It was once done; press Enter button after typing in the command. After the command has been executed, go ahead and close Command Prompt window. Also, restart your PC once.
Find the mac address of that computer.
Doesn't matter if your connected to a LAN or not. The MAC address is hard coded into the NIC and does not change unless software on the computer requires that it changes.
The MAC address is a unique identifier for a networking card. Each networking card has a MAC address assigned to it during it's manufacturing, and thus it does not change when a computer moves between networks (unlike an IP address which is assigned by the network). A few things to note: - A computer only has a MAC address if it has a physical or virtual network card - A computer has as many MAC addresses as it has networking cards - MAC addresses CAN be modified before being broadcast to the rest of the network, however generally this results in the computer not receiving intended traffic and requires specialized software
The "MAC" address of your computer is built into the Ethernet board.
hi u can find the mac address of computer by ipconfig/all command in command prompt. Thanks
This is a hacking technique where one can change the MAC address of a device to a different one. The main advantage is a computer can be made invisible in a network.
Under normal circumstances: No. The MAC address is hardcoded in the network controller (NIC), e.g. on a Flash chip. If the computer uses a non virtual NIC (as used on virtual machines) and there are no drivers installed that change the MAC inside the operating system, the MAC stays the same. But drivers/configurations can overcome the static MAC using the OS behavior. In most cases the MAC isn't read by the OS every time it is used, its rather stored somewhere. If that "somewhere" was changed, the MAC will certainly change if the computer is formated. Same applies if the computer uses virtual NICs. If you know the MAC and it is not the same as hardcoded in the NIC, you can restore the MAC after reinstallation.
There is no reason to change a MaC address, only possible answer is if you have commited a criminal offence in IT, such a hacking and want to change your MaC address. Please feel free to correct me, IT is such a large field and can change everyday
A Media Access Control address (MAC address) is what identifies your computer on a network. You should be able to find it within your network preferences or in a summary of the computers status.

Each computer has a unique name, IP address and MAC address. (not MAC as in McIntosh.)
