You can replace backdrops by dragging a new image over the old one. To remove a backdrop you need to activate it with a double click and then press the Command (cmd) key and the BackSpace (left facing arrow top right of keyboard) together. You may need to reset the panel to it's default state by pressing the Command (cmd), Shift and 'R' keys together.
