If you are not a fan of the lock screen on Windows 8, there are a few different ways to disable it. You can use either the Group Policy Editor or the Registry Editor.

To access the Registry Editor on a Windows operating system you must press the Start button and click on Run. In the box you enter "regedit" and then press Enter. The Registry Editor will open.
Windows NT/2000 Regedit.exe and Regedt32.exe have two different functions. Windows XP has only one single registry editor.
