When you say column with command, you mean automatically adding a new column or autoadjusting a column?
To add a column using a shortcut, you need to highlight a column/s first (short cut is Shift key + Space bar) then press your Ctrl and + Keys simultaneously.
If you want to auto-adjust a column's width using a shortcut, you can use Alt + H O + I (texted with Excel 2007 version).
The column width command adjusts the width of a column or selected range of columns.

Column width is what it says -- how wide the column is.
In Excel 2010, the default column width is set to 8.43 characters, which is approximately equivalent to 64 pixels. This width is designed to accommodate standard text entries, but users can easily adjust the column width to fit their specific data needs.
There is no best column in Excel. All columns are the same. If you are referring to the best fit, then that is based on the widest entry in a column being used to set the width of the column.

The actual column width depends on the font you select, but the default width is 8.43.
