1. Be sure the text is not in a text box. (Many templates set up text boxes for you)
2. Select the paragraph where you want the drop cap.
3. In the Format menu, select Drop Cap
4. Still in the Format Menu, select column or indented style, and font.
This cuts the first letter of the paragraph and inserts it as an inline textbox. If you need to change it, drag the corner handles. If you make a mistake, delete it, re-type the first letter, and do it over.
