You can just select what you want to change, by clicking on the Formula Bar or pressing the F2 key to start the editing process.
Click on the cell and edit the contents in the formula bar at the top of the screen, double-click the cell and edit in the cell, or click on the cell and press F2 to edit within the cell.

A cell that is outlined in green is normally the second cell referenced in a formula, when you start to edit the formula. It does not have to have any data in it. You could be referring to the active cell, but that is not outlined in green and again it does not have to have anything typed into it.
We can be adding many cells in one cell on list, split one into rows or columns or merge several rows or columns into a cell or both.

If you see Ready on the status bar, it means Excel is ready for you to start typing something into the active cell. Once you start typing, you will see Enter there, or if you edit a cell you will see Edit there.
Select the cell you want to change.Right-click and choose format cell.Make the changes you want.
It goes into edit mode for that cell after clearing the contents of the cell. You can exit edit mode and restore the previous cell contents by pressing Esc.
