More then likely one of the wires going into the mouse is probably broken. 99 percent of the time it will break from all the movement at the body part. Depending on the mouse manufacturer it can be fairly hard to repair.

It's best to just buy another mouse to see if the new one works before working on the old mouse.

It's just a matter of cutting the wire about 2 inches away from the body of the mouse and re-soldering the wires back into place.
