Plug usb end directly into your usb slot on the pc, download the drivers from Microsoft's site, and then play a game that is either made to use the controller properly, i.e. Assassins Creed or Crysis, or use a joy/key app, like Joy2Key to set up buttons to correspond to keyboard buttons.
