I was confusing Axis Titles with Axes. The solution is to turn off Data Labels and turn on Vertical Axes.
To create professional charts in Excel, first input your data into a spreadsheet. Then, select the data you want to include in the chart. Next, go to the "Insert" tab and choose the type of chart you want to create. Customize the chart by adjusting the design, colors, labels, and titles. Finally, make sure to add a legend and axis labels for clarity.
This would be under the tools tab. Go into excel and click on this tab to see all of the options that are available for modifying your axis labels.
The two types of axes are x-axis and y-axis. X-axis is called value axis for bar charts or category axis for column and line chart while Y-axis is called category axis for bar charts or column axis for column and line chart.
The horizontal axis is the one going across the bottom of a chart. It can be the X axis in some kinds of charts or the category axis in other kinds of charts.
The boundary of a chart across the bottom and up the side can be the axis. It depends on the kind of charts. They are use to have the values or categories of data. In a column chart, the base of the column is at the X Axis for example.
It labels items on a chart. Category labels go across the bottom, on the horizontal or X-Axis. Values are normally on the Y-Axis. So if it were a bar chart, a category would have a bar coming from the X Axis and its value would be measured by what point on the Y-Axis it is equal to. The category labels tell us what that bar represents, like sales or profits or a particular year etc.
The "x-axis" usually refers to the horizontal axis. In Excel, that would be relevant for graphs created with Excel.
To plot an Acceleration vs sin theta graph in Microsoft Excel, you first need to have the data for acceleration and sin theta in two columns. Then select the two columns of data, go to the "Insert" tab, choose "Scatter" from the charts group, and then select a scatter plot with data points only. Finally, customize your graph by adding axis labels and a title.
the y axis in excel is also known as the value axis
The X-Axis will normally describe what is shown. That is the one going across the bottom. It will depend on the type of chart, as some don't have an axis, like pie charts. This is one of the reasons that all charts include legends to help indicate what values refer to.
Category axis.
The independent variable is on the horizontal axis.
