From my own experience the best way to rid your home of unwanted mice is to use the newly designed covered mouse traps. They are a very cost effective way to remove the pests from your home, they are efficient and fairly inexpensive.

If you have a problem with mice in your home, you can get rid of them without an exterminator by using home pest control products. Sticky traps are very useful in controlling mice, as are snap traps. If you have a problem with mice in your home or office, there are several ways to get rid of them and prevent further invasions. To keep mice from getting in, make sure there are no holes in your floors or walls that mice can use to get inside. Also keep food products, such as animal foods, crackers, flour, etc put away in sealed containers where mice can't get to them, as they will often go inside to find food. If you use traps, make sure you keep any rat poison away from the reach of kids and pets.
