The CELL function is used to get information about a cell. This can be things like its address, format, filename etc. While some of those things can be obvious, there are times when it is useful to get them. If you are looking for the address of a cell that has been given a name for example, as in the following example. The characteristic that you are looking for must be enclosed in brackets, and they are given to you to choose from as you enter the function. The following example gets the address of a cell that has been given the name TotalSales.
=CELL("address", TotalSales)
Insert Function in Excel allows you to enter a function into your worksheet. You can choose your function from different categories fo functions. It will also give you a little help on the function so that you can use it in the correct way.
The TODAY function returns the current date when the function is executed. That would be when you open the document or when you insert the function for the first time in a cell.
The Formula Bar shows those things. Included in it is what is specifically known as the Name Box, which is where the address is shown. The Insert Function button is beside that and then the Formula Box part, when you can see the contents of the cell.
You can use the Insert Function button fx on the Formula bar to find an Excel function by typing a description of the formula at the Insert Function dialog box, in the Search for a function text box and then click Go.
You cannot actually put a picture into a cell in Excel. Pictures and graphics sit on top of the worksheet but are not tied to any cell and so are not in a cell. So you can basically put a picture or graphic over a cell, but it is not actually in a cell, like you can put numbers or dates or text into a cell. They can be put into a worksheet by using the Insert Tab in newer versions of Excel, or the Insert menu in older versions. It can also be done through the Drawing toolbar.
Right-click on the cell and select Insert Comments, then enter your comment.
Alt+Enter
