Open the spreadsheet - and select Format, then Page - In the small box that opens, click on the Header tab. Set each option as required - Repeat for Footer - then click OK

Open Office Calc
From within the spreadsheet - Position the cursor on the cell where you want the picture, click on Insert, then Picture, and click 'from file'. This will let you browse your computer for the picture you want to insert. once you find it - click OK. You can then re-size the cell to the dimensions you want.

Whichever OpenOffice (also the newer LibreOffice) is used (Writer, Calc, Draw, etc) the Pi symbol is found in Insert > special Character. Choose the Pi symbol and close. Π

As a long time user of LibreOffice (mainly writer and calc) I can see no disadvantages. It is a complete office suit, and is free - two very good advantages.
The maximum number of rows available is 1048576 !
The maximum per spreadsheet is 1024 columns.
