It is a CD the has some form of Linux, an operating system for your computer (Microsoft Windows is an operating system). There are CDs of Linux that are just used to install Linux, or there are LiveCDs that you just put in and reboot. Linux will be running without effecting the rest of the computer.
A package manager is a utility to install remove, upgrade, and track the dependencies of software in Linux.

You can install Windows or Linux using a USB memory stick.
You will need to install a software which is capable of creating virtual CD. 'Virtual CD CD/DVD Emulator' is one such software [it is not a free software]. After installing the software create a virtual CD and play game without the CD.
This hardrive comes with a cd rom with the install software.
Most system software is installed from a CD or a DVD.
Open the CD and click on the "Installer" or "Drag and Drop" the application to the desktop or applications folder. There should be a ReadMe or such on the CD to explain how to do it.
If you would like to install it ON TOP of Windows: Install a virtual machine program (ex. Virtualbox, VMware) Install Linux inside of virtual machine Install it along side (or overwrite) Windows: Reboot computer with Linux install CD/DVD in the disk drive and follow the instructions.
Simply run the disk on your cd drive and follow the instructions to install it.
