How do you know if your rat is pregnant?

Some rast are hard to tell, as some don't show till a few days before birth. You can either take her to a vet, or wait until she gives birth.

A rats gestation (pregnancy) lasts for 3 weeks.

Your rat will start to pile up its bedding around (if you have one) its den, it will become very fat (the last day before birth it will look like its going to explode), and it may start storing lots of food and act aggresive towards other rats. Trust me, I have 2 pet rats and one had 10 babies. If your rat is pregnant good luck, the mother will take care of them, all you need to do is keep mama fed, and read up on what to do, can't explain everythimg in one paragraph!

You will be able to tell closer towards the end of their pregnancy. Weight gain is a major sign. You can try to weigh the rat everyday and see if there is significant weight gain.
