One way - is to find the relevant letter in the Character Map - and copy & paste it into your document (or whatever file you're working on). In Windows 7, the character map is found by pressing Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
The individual tilde can be found on the top left corner of a keyboard, below the 'Escape' button, in combination with the 'Shift' key.Alternatively, you can copy one directly from here: ~.On your computer click on the start button, go to accessories, system tools, character map, choose the character you want i.e. the tilde for the Spanish accent, copy, go back to typing and when you are ready: Paste! Done.
It doesn't make complete sense, becausesonar(se) (without the tilde, the little wave, on the 'n') =to sound, ring, look/sound likesoñar(se) (with the tilde) = to dream; from which'Que sueñes (with tilde) con los angelitos' = May you dream of little angels.(But the tilde is important!)
There are number codes to make tildes. The number codes are different for each letter. In Windows, you hold down Alt while you type the appropriate number code for that letter. Capital letters and lower case letters require different number codes. Capital A with a tilde is Alt + 0195 Capital N with a tilde is Alt + 0209 Capital O with a tilde is Alt + 0213 lowercase a with a tilde is Alt + 0227 lowercase n with a tilde is Alt + 0241 lowercase o with a tilde is Alt + 0245 Don't use the numbers along the top row of your keyboard. Use the numeral keypad on the side of your keyboard. Turn Num Lock ON. There is a different way to do this in Mac, and yet another way to do it in HTML.

pardo/castano/moreno (tilde, the small wave, over the 'n' in castano') (Change the final 'o' to 'a' to make it feminine, add 's' to make plural)
Depending on what type of keyboard you have, the Tilde key can be found at the top left, below the Escape key. By pressing both the Shift key and the Tilde key produces '~'.
ñ is a different letter than n. ñ make the sound ny so its said senyor instead of senor
This depends on what you're using. If you have an extended keyboard with a numeric pad on the side, try the following: hold down the alt button and type 0241. (This won't work using the numbers running across the top of the keyboard.) On my laptop (which has Microsoft Word) I press control and shift and the tilde button at the same time, then let go and press n. That will not work on this website, so here I copy and paste from another document.
