I believe you mean ASCII symbols such as ° § ¼ ½ ¾ ø € ß and so on.

This is done be holding down the Alt key whilst typing in the four figure code for that character.

An easy way to learn this, is to use a program like "The Font Thing" which shows the signs created when using the Alt key stroke.

But always remember it is a four digit code , so "36" is entered as "0036" giving $.

On my keyboard the number sign (#) appears as the upper case of the number 3 (which is to say, you press shift and 3, simultaneously). OK?

i dont know how you do a music sign but a sort of treble clef i know go to Microsoft Word click font and choose wingdings and press K
