How do you make free space your MacBook Pro?

Open a Finder window and select a folder from the Sidebar e.g. Applications. At the bottom of the window it should tell you how many items are in the folder and the total amount of free disc space available to you.

Navigate to your Utilities folder (Which is located inside of your Applications folder)

Once inside the Utilities folder, open "Activity Monitor."

After you open activity monitor, there should be a button towards the bottom that reads "Disk Usage." Click that.

From there you should be able to see how much of your disk you have used, and how much free space you have left in the form of a pie chart. You can also select different disks from this menu.

(Tested on Max OS X, 10.6.6)

Simply erase any unused software. Make sure to only erase 3rd party software YOU installed to be safe.

If you can't find enough space you can always install a larger Hard Drive.

If you wan't completely free space for say, installing Windows on a Mac, then you would have to either reinstall the OS or have a disk defragment type software do it for you.
