click on the message tab at the top of the screen then scroll down and chose mark unread
open the email and click "mark as unread"
For example, if you read an email and its something important and you will take care of it later, you can mark it unread again so you notice it on the next time you go check your email.
Unfortunately, you can't. Actually, you can. Just go into the inbox and right click on the message. At the top of the list that appears you will see "Mark as Unread". Click it, and it's marked as unread. - xoroxyygirlxo
After opening and reading your email, look for the action button on top and choose "Mark as Unread". This will make your email appear to be unopened.
It is an unwritten rule in my household that everyone puts the toilet seat down after each use.
unread messages are messages that have never been opened or mark as read basically not read
AOL seems to have a problem right now ~ the "mark as unread" option is no longer an available action but "keep as new" does not return the message subject to boldface. AOL help is useless because it tells you to select "mark as unread" from the action menu, which is hard to do when it's not there

After you send a message, it automaticly sets it's self as sent. You can mark one or more message(s) by putting a check to the left of the message, under "More actions" you will find "Mark as read" (if it is unread), click that.
Usually it is bold but it depends on what site you use
