The damage has been done and your car will not be returning to Kansas. When a car severely overheats many things become distorted inside the engine. Cylinder walls are especially damaged but valves usually take the first hit. Why you get rough starts is because the boots on the valve springs which are made of rubber got baked. When rubber gets baked it turns hard and oil then leaks past onto your spark plus which causes a rough start. I would use synthetic oil and try to milk what miles you can out of it. Nothing is better at prevented dry starts than synthetic oil. Even a durablend would probably do okay. vbdenny
