Assuming you have a Mac with a built in camera... Launch the Photo Booth application. You should see yourself in the main window. Click the big round red button in the middle to take your picture. From the File menu select Reveal In Finder and it will open the folder where your Pictures are stored - this is usually in a PhotoBooth folder in the Pictures folder. The small square buttons on the left below the main window offer options for a single picture, four pictures with a brief gap between each one, record a short movie. The Effects button on the right lets you scroll through and select various special effects to enhance your pictures.
