If a word document is rescued using AutoRecover functionality, it should appear on the left hand side pane the next time you start Word.
Unfortunately you can't fully recover your original file from one of these text files. These files are generally created when you lose access to a drive where your .doc file is saved. Word doesn't hold your full file in memory though, so it can't save all of it for recovery. The file should contain some plain text that may help you recover some of your document edits manually. More detail can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/224068In particular Microsoft says:"The file "Rescued Document .txt" is saved to the root of your hard disk. If you no longer have access to the network location, this file may be be useful as it may contain some or all of the contents of your document in a text only format. Items such as formatting, graphics, and fields will not be available in this version of the document because they are not supported in text files."
Document is a text. You can save text in your document.
Odds are you probably won't be able to restore it completely. Try opening it as a text document, you may be aable to recover at least some of the data that way.
Generally speaking the text is lost. What you can do, if you have saved the document recently is quit the application. The computer will then ask you if you want to save the changes made to the document. Click "NO". The document will close and you can then re-open the file. You will then be back with the document as it was when you last saved. If you have only just deleted the text, and not done anything else, you could select the command "Undo" from the `Edit" menu. In most cases this will restore the text. Depending on the application you use for desktop publishing, you might even have a successive undo function, which allow you to recover after several actions have been taken since the deletion of the text. But I wouldn't like to be depending of this function being available.
when you cut text, the text is removed from the document and placed on the office clipboard.
There might not be any difference. A text document is just characters, without any special formatting. A published document has been output from an application, usually to a printer. A published document could be a text document.
Copy all the text from the email with Ctrl+C and paste it into a text document with Ctrl+V, save the document and drag the document in the external hard drive and Done you have all your emails as a back up.
Generically a document is some form of written text. If you make changes to this text then you are editing the document. In computer terms this means that you have the document open in your word processor and you are adding or removing text before saving a new version of the document.

You have to make the Text Document first, then compress it into a .RAR or .ZIP format. If you have WinRAR installed already, then just right-click the Text Document and click "Add to archive...".
