Pressing the Shift key and hitting the Enter or Return key, will move you one cell up. Pressing the Shift key and hitting the Tab key, will move you one cell to the left.
Response Sept 2012 - to above answer. I wish folks who "attempt" to answer these questions, note the quotes around attempt, for that's all they are, feable attempts at most, would first learn how to READ the question. The question is one I have been searching for the past week, with no luck. It may require a VBA program to accomplish, but at this time I have found no combination of keys that will return you to the immediately previous cell you were in. Let's assume for the moment we are on the same worksheet. By going back to the previous cell I'm sure the questions means if I'm in cell B 12, and then scroll down to cell P 154 and enter something, how do I get back to cell B 12 without having to cursor up and over to it or hitting the "goto" icon on the upper left of the worksheet and typing in B 12.
Because it identifies the cell in the top left corner of the worksheet. By definition, this is called the Home Cell.
If you are referring to MS Excel, A1 represents the cell in the top left corner of a worksheet.
The range of selected and copied cells will paste into the sheet with the range's top left cell at the selected insertion point. For Excel set up for right-to-left languages e.g., Hebrew and Arabic, the range will paste into the sheet with the range's top right cell at the insertion point.
There are seven cell alignments in Excel, but not all are horizontal. 4 x HORIZONTAL: left, center, right, full 3 x VERTICAL: top, center, bottom
Refers to the left-right position of contents in a cell
At the top of your worksheet is the formula bar. On the left side of the formula bar is a small window that displays the active cell reference or name.
The area formed by the intersection of rows and column is called "cell".
Every cell in an excel spreadsheet has a 'Reference', this reference is found by looking at the Letter at the top of the sheet and the number on the Left of the sheet. Assuming you have your options on the default settings, the top, left hand cell would be cell reference A1, the one below that would be A2, the one to its right would be B1.
Alignment refers to how things are positioned in a cell. They would mainly be left, right and centred. You can also have alighnment towards the top and bottom of a cell. Borders are heavy lines that can go around cells or groups of cells, to the top, left, bottom and right.
Ctrl-Home will bring you to cell A1 in a worksheet in Excel.
It is the positioning to something in relation to its surroundings. In Word, text can be aligned to the left, centre and right. In Excel things in cells can be aligned those ways, but also to the top of a cell and the bottom of a cell.
You click on the cell you want to change and make your changes. If you are asking about how to change the letters at the top of columns and numbers to the left of rows in Excel, you can not.
