It depends on what you mean by "accent". If you mean how to type a British accent on a computer, well, it isn't exactly possible. You don't "type" accents. You have to speak accents.
Otherwise, if you mean something like ñ, you use the Alt key and the number pad on the keyboard. For the n I just typed, press down "Alt" and type 164.

The British accents are spelled the same as American accents. The New England accents are spelled different than American accents.
It depends on what type of phones your friends have because the iPhone has some accents that were made just for other iPhone or a Smart phones alike
