Windows Laptop
Under the Windows operating system, you use the Alt key to make special symbols not visible on the regular keyboard.
To make the ¢ symbol on your Windows laptop, hold down the Alt key and type 0162.
Mac Laptop
Under the Mac operating system, you use the Option key to make certain special symbols.
To make the ¢ symbol on your Mac laptop, hold down the Option key and type 4 (note that Shift + 4 makes the dollar sign).

Use "Insert Symbol" on Microsoft Word.

The degree symbol isn't used that much. You can however find it in the symbol section on Word and Excel among other programs. As for the cent sign it is quite simple that it is easier to miss at first. It is much easier to have them written out like $0.05 then to have 5 and then the cent sign. This makes it not only easier to count in checkbooks or on the excel program, but it leaves less room for a mistake. There really is no need for it. In most things that you are going to do you will use the other way to write then the cent sign.
Cents is a capital C with a vertical line through it. The symbol replaces the word cent or cents.
