Open your Firefox preferences (either edit->preferences or tools->options) and click the security tab. In the "passwords" section, click "Exceptions...". This will list all the sites you've told Firefox not to store passwords for. Find the site you want to remember the password for in this list, click it, then click remove. Now the next time you visit the site, Firefox will ask you if you want to remember the password.

While it all matters in your preferences, out of those i prefer chrome and explorer. Again, it is all up to preferences.

In Firefox, go to Preferences in the Firefox menu. Click on Privacy. Under History, remove the tick beside "Remember what I enter in forms and in the search bar". At the bottom, after "Private data" click the "Settings" button. Remove the tick from "Saved Form information". Click OK.
Open Preferences from the Firefox menu and select the Privacy tab. There you have options, including Clear Now, to manage the storing of the history.

This problem happens for a variety of reasons but the main reason or cause that this happens to me is because of a new add-on. Try to uninstall any recent add ons and see if that helps. Otherwise I have had to remove all instances of firefox from my computer and then restart and download a new "clean" version of Firefox. Try starting FireFox in Safe Mode (found in the start menu)
