Network Address Translation (NAT) enhances security by masking the internal IP addresses of devices on a home network. When devices communicate with the outside world, NAT translates their private IP addresses to a single public IP address, making it difficult for outsiders to directly access individual devices. This adds a layer of anonymity and helps prevent unauthorized access, as external requests cannot easily identify or reach specific devices within the network. Additionally, NAT simplifies the management of IP addresses, further bolstering network security.
This process is done by NAT - Network Address Translation. It is a service that may be run on any server.

Using NAT (NETWORK ADDRESS TRANSLATION) can make it possible to connect to Internet with Public IP Address at the Internet Gateway while Computers internally will use Private range of IP Addresses.

An IP address is a numerical value assigned to devices in a computer network that uses internet protocol between its computers. An IP network refers to a set of computers using this address.
One computer on a network will drop another if both computers are using the same IP Address. This can be solved by assigning both computers automatic IP address, and Windows will automatically deal with the network issue.
The IPv6 address that is required for other computers on a local network to communicate with each other is, the "Link-local address". The first hextet will always begin with FE80.
The Media Access Control - MAC Address is a number, created by the manufacturer, which identifies your computer on a network. If you have a wireless network, for example, you may want to add the MAC address for each computer you want to connect to the network, and tell the router to only allow these computers to connect, to prevent unknown computers connecting to your network.
