The map (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor and the idle control valve work together to regulate the engine's air-fuel mixture, particularly during idle conditions. The MAP sensor measures the pressure in the intake manifold, providing the engine control unit (ECU) with data on engine load and atmospheric conditions. Based on this information, the ECU adjusts the idle control valve, which regulates the amount of air entering the engine at idle, ensuring smooth operation and optimal performance. This collaboration helps maintain a stable idle speed and enhances fuel efficiency.
try the idel air control valve
All idel control valves are typically located at the Throttle Body it is usually a small adjusting screw/nut
IAC (Idel Air Control Valve)
I have the same problem with my 98 sc1. After the car is warm I disconnected the Idel Air Valve Wire, the service engine light come on but the car didnt have the high idel problem. (the idel air valve also control the cold start "choke" you have to have it connected or it might quit from low idel and for your car to cold start the next day) I replaced the Idel Air Valve $45 and PCV Valve, and cleared the computer codes. Helped alot but didnt completely fix the problem. My next step is to buy a gasket for the throttle body.
if the yellow light on your dash is lit up you have a bad sensor most likely the air idel control
If you are talking about the IAC idel air control valve,It is as simple as disconnecting the electrical connector from the IAC valve.removing two mounting screws and remove the valve from the throttle body.Installation is reverse.Be sure to install a new O-ring. Good luck!
go to autozone for a free diagnostic check & the computer will tell you what is wrong ie map sensor. idel air control . mass airflow sensor
um if it will not idel but start but you have to keep giving it gas... unplug the injectors and try starting it while pumping the gas if it starts you have a leaking injector... if this does not work it could be a bad egr ... or Idel Air Control Valve.. IAC ? hope this helps
It could possibly be the idle air control valve (IAC).
Could be the isc valve, disconnect it electrically and check if the sound disappear, it so, you culd have a isc valve failed, now put your isc valve back because is needed for control the idel speed.
Iac Idel air control valve very esy fix about $50 my edpedtion and my f250 had them go out in the last 6 months.
check catalytic converter.
