mearkats live in a desert type area and their water is supplied by the larve, scorpions, and bugs that they eat in the wild. Animal channel had a real good series on the mearkats and how they live. If you have a zoo exibit for them, I believe that you should give them as close to the type of food and environment that they would live in ( in the wild) . The purpose for having animals in a zoo should be to help keep these beautiful creatures breeding to help keep them alive and not become extinct.
Adaptations can reduce completion among species because certain adjustments must be made in order to survive. Animals that cannot adapt to change will not flourish.

Tsunamis do not create adaptations in plants or animals.
Plants in arid or desert biomes have developed several key adaptations to survive harsh conditions. They often possess thick, waxy cuticles to reduce water loss, and many have deep root systems to access underground water. Some have evolved fleshy tissues for water storage, while others, like succulents, can photosynthesize efficiently with minimal water. Additionally, many of these plants have adapted their leaf structures, such as smaller leaves or spines, to minimize transpiration and protect against herbivores.
Duyoku's theory: You can choose your environment but you cant choose habits. Waste no want not. Adaptation will get the better of us in the end if you dont pursue you dreams! Jonh Duyoku Ph.D.
Two major adaptations that helped insects survive on land are the development of a waterproof exoskeleton and the evolution of specialized respiratory systems. The exoskeleton, made of chitin, prevents water loss and provides structural support, allowing insects to thrive in terrestrial environments. Additionally, the adaptation of tracheal systems for gas exchange enables efficient oxygen delivery directly to tissues, facilitating survival in diverse habitats.

Paleolithic people adapted to their environment by using tools made from stone, bone, and wood to hunt animals, gather food, and create shelter. They also utilized fire for warmth, protection, cooking, and tool-making. These adaptations allowed them to survive and thrive in a wide range of environments across the world.
