1 kb is equal to 1024 bytes.

1 byte equals 8 bits.

I know, weird. Worse is that hard drive makers don't use this, even though EVERY mainstream OS does. It will say something like 80gb, but formats to much lower, cause by 80gb they mean 80000 mb. They think it is easier for understand that way.
