Prefix 'milli' is used to denote sub multiples of liter and uses factor 10-3 or 0.001.

To convert liters to milliliters, value of liter has to be divided by factor used with prefix 'milli'.

1 liter = 1 / 10-3 = 1 / 0.001 = 1000 milliliters
