you are only really limited by the ports on your router, indeed even if you run out of ports you can get another router.
192.168.0.1 is the starting address and 192.168.256.256 is the ending address... so I would say that you can connect up to 65,536 computers to a LAN at least in theory. I have never heard this being done but I'm sure it is possible.
The problem is the bandwidth. if you are on a 5 Mbit connection (for simplification purposes this is both up and down speed) and you have lets say 10,000 computers all with people using them online then each is roughly limited to 524 bps if all is shared equally, in layman's terms that's really really slow. Now if you only have a few computers using the net at any given time it can work well.
use a router !
Buy a lan router, they can be used with lan cable or wireless to connect all your computers through a network. If there are only two computers that you wish to connect then you only need on lan cable which you connect in the back of each of those two computers to create a network.
No. The way LAN connections work is: Minecraft searches your network (what all computers in your home are connected to) for games to join. Through LAN connections you can't connect to anything outside of your network.
To do that, an additional device is required, a network hub or a network switch, which all computers in the network segment should have to be connected to.
To allow you to connect to wireless internet
both computers should have lan ports on them, use a lan cable - yellow in Australia and directly connect the two computers. At your local airport they use wireless so you will need a wireless modem (Wi-Fi)
If you mean, "What is a wireless LAN?" The answer is simple. A wireless LAN is a network that connects multiple computers, gaming consoles, and gaming devices and allows them to connect to the internet, but only if they are capable of using wireless. Wireless LAN is achieved by using a wireless router. LAN stands for Local Area Network.
Lan Card provides a port for a network cable to connect the pc to a network.. LAN : Local area network or Ethernet Card and Network Card
lan
LAN local area network, can connect computers using cords or wireless, used in schools and offices.
Connect it for what? You could use 2 patch cables and a switch, a cross-over cable, firewire, you could connect wirelessly over a network, you could connect over a lan on a network. You could tie the two computers together with a rope or use super sticky glue. I'm not sure what you are asking.
The TCP/IP protocol allows each computer to "see" the other computers on the network, and share files and printers. When computers connect on the same network, it is called a local area network, or LAN .
