I bought one for my company and paid about $5000 for it. I already had another portable computer that was not that heavy. The Osborn was not "portable" we called it a "sewing machine" and "luggable". Well, you could write BASIC programs on these, that recorded expenses and provided accounting and simple budgets. The games were coded in assembler - C came later, but we had made a language that was called PL/M.

So the price was about that of a of a decent used car. But we knew that the prices would fall, power would improve and determined to be in the race.
