This question is a little vague for me to answer it completely, there are several different types of software developers or engineers that cover a variety of more specific aspects pertaining to creation of software for computers. Different types of software developers can have a wide array of particular skills and they can also be on different levels depending on the types of systems that they work with or even build for. On average a lot of software engineers/developers make about $60-80,000 a year in the first few years of working, but some more technical or skilled developers can also start off around $80-90,000 which again depends on their skill sets or the system they work within or build for. After several years of experience many software engineers can earn around $100-120,000 a year or possibly even more in some cases. Those are about as close as I can get to identifying a yearly rate considering all of the different variables that could come into play.
