It depends on the factors like weight, climate etc. Here are some factors:

Weight : You should be able to determine how to much to consume based on your weight. If you weight about 120 lbs then cutting to half will be 60. So you need to consume 60 ounces irregardless of age, sex or height.

Alchoholic: Drinking water helps curing most hangovers. You should try to consume alchohol and water in equal amounts. This will help in avoiding the negative effects of alchohol in your body. It is not possible to eliminate headaches but can help in faster recovery.

Weather : Try to drink as much water as possible during Summer. This will mainly help replacing the liquid which you lose and prevents dehydration. During Winter, drinking less water isn't a problem but in summer you should know how much to take in and its always best to consume additional 3 glasses to your regular intake.
