Cut and paste all of the content into another document, re-format, and don't protect it. I had already tried that, but it didn't work as I couldn't select any of the text. I eventually solved the problem by opening a new document and using "Insert, File".
Well you can password protect your files and folders. This will keep your files protected. Depending on your password your information will be protected. Use a password with letters, numbers and symbols that don't spell a word in the English language.

Enter the same password in both boxes, and click OK. When you next open the file, you will be prompted for the password.
