If the incident commander designates personnel to provide public information safety and liaison services, it is known as delegation of duty.
The personnel designated by the incident commander to provide public information, safety, and liaison services are collectively referred to as the Public Information Officer (PIO) team or the Joint Information Center (JIC) team. Their role is to ensure accurate and timely information is communicated to the public and stakeholders during an incident. This team helps facilitate communication between the incident command and the community, ensuring safety messages and updates are effectively disseminated.
