When cell C3 containing the formula B6C8 is copied to cell D2, the formula in D2 will adjust based on its new location. It will become C6D8, as Excel automatically updates the cell references relative to the position of the new cell. This is known as relative referencing.
The formula in cell C6 would be: =SUM(C2:C5)
An absolute reference.
Click on the cell containing the formula and edit within the cell or in the cell bar at the top of the screen. You can do that by clicking in the formula or pressing the F2 key.
Just go to the cell containing the cell and press F2 key (function2 key)
