In Excel, the Sparkline formatting option that creates a reference line is called "High Point" or "Low Point," depending on the context. You can also use the "Vertical Axis" option to set a specific value for the axis, which can serve as a reference line for comparison. To add these options, select the Sparkline, go to the "Design" tab, and choose the desired formatting options under "Show" group.

Formatting can change if you move text into a paragraph that contains different formatting.
There is a delete option when you open the Conditional Formatting option. You could also use the Format Painter to paste formatting from a cell with no conditional formatting onto the cell that has.
You can use the Clear option in the Sparkline tools. You can also just press the Delete key on the cell.
Any formatting can change the way data looks in a cell. That is the point of formatting.
Right click on the cell with the sparkline. Choose the Sparklines option. Then choose Clear Selected Sparklines. You can find the same option on the Sparklines tab on the Ribbon when you have cells with sparklines selected.
It does note remove all formatting but the option menu: Format > Simplify Formatting (Ctrl + Space) cleans the notes very well!
