It depends on the individual. Like any social media, parental supervision is essential. While the technolgical trend has always attracted the younger generation, there are positive and negative drawbacks to both. Children are being bombarded with sensitive subject matters (sex, drugs, rock and roll) at such younger ages than previous generations. Instagram allows you to capture any photo, either in real life or copied and pasted from any other source, and post it to your created profile. You can request to follow anyone and anyone can request to follow you. If someone you follow has a friend that you don't want to have access to your information, there appears to be no feature that allows you to prevent them from having access to your information. You can leave comments or read comments just like Facebook. I have witnessed both positive, (supportive friends sharing thoughts) and negative (10 year old girls trying to act like 20 year old prostitutes). Again, like anything involving your children, parental supervison is essential.
