"Bad" can mean many different things.

1. Does Windows XP kill, maim, or torture people?

Torture and emotional scarring are debatable, but XP is not known to have killed anyone. Yet.

2. Is Windows XP unreliable?

Compared to many more other reliable operating systems like 7, yes. To Windows 95/98/ME? No. XP is far more stable and has less fatal (blue screen) crashes than previous home versions of Windows.

3. Is Windows XP unsecure?

Yes. Thousands of viruses, trojans, and worms attack and exploit vulnerabilities in XP. Most of the vulnerabilities will never be completely fixed.

4. Does Windows XP have lousy hardware support?

Hardware support is dependant largely on vendors. Most new pieces of hardware on the market still have XP drivers available. Windows XP supports very little modern hardware "out of the box." Unlike Windows Vista, XP does not natively support SATA drives, which causes no end of headaches to noobs who like to jump on the "Vista sucks!!!" train, without investigating all the problems a downgrade will cause.

5. Does Windows XP invade your privacy?

No. Believe it or not, Microsoft finds you and your personal life very boring. They only want your money. If you are worried about someone invading your privacy, though, see number 3.
